The prodigal son wastes his inheritance, circa 1540- circa 1550. Son (Filius Prodigus) at the table with lust (Caro) and greed (Avaritia). Personification of the world (Mundus) trampled conscience (Conscientia). Selfishness (Proprum Commudum) steals the money pouch. Behind him are transience (Vanitas), heresy (Haeresis) and reason (Ratio), playing bagpipes. Above the scene in a cloud the spirit of inaccuracy and fanatic (Spiritus Erronei & Fanatics).
