Greece Prepares For Orthodox Easter Under Coronavirus Lockdown

A butcher wearing protective face mask and gloves, chops a leg of lamb for a client at Athen's main meat market on April 16, 2020 in Athens, Greece, ahead of the Greek Orthodox Easter. Greeks, who traditionally roast a lamb with families or friends to celebrate Easter Sunday, are urged by authorities to avoid any gatherings to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus. As part of its COVID-19 quarantine measures, the government has banned the lively gatherings and church services that traditionally accompany Orthodox Easter. The country has just over 2,000 reported cases of COVID-19 and around 100 deaths, among the lowest numbers in Europe.
