Christopher Guest Recounts Conceptualing His Character in 'The Princess Bride'

Christopher Guest: I didn't talk to him about it because I think that's really, that's sort of an actor's work. I mean, an actor looks at a screenplay and then does, makes that all up for himself. I mean not to confuse it with Bill's inspiration for what made it. It's a very different issue. Interviewer: But isn't it, you know, scary saying, you've got someone like William Goldman who's written it, what happens if you've got the wrong interpretation? What happens if it's maybe not right? Well, there is no wrong. Christopher Guest: Well, there is no wrong interpretation. Of course, I mean, he can always say, as with any movie, he writes, well, I wouldn't have done it that way, but you just have to do what you do. That's your job, you know.
