Free tattoo removal program launched for low-income Indonesians during Ramadan

JAKARTA, INDONESIA - MARCH 20: A free tattoo removal program has been launched in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, through the collaboration of various organizations.In Indonesia, where the cost of tattoo removal is very high, the program, which started last Saturday, March 15, provides services to low- and middle-income Muslims.Before the laser tattoo removal procedure, participants undergo blood tests and are given anesthesia.The service is then provided free of charge to those who voluntarily wish to have their tattoos removed at the center where 40 people are employed.Getting tattoos is considered unacceptable in Islam.During Ramadan, Muslims traditionally fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, smoking and physical intimacy.Muslims, especially during Ramadan, feel remorse for their sins and wrongdoings, seek forgiveness from Allah, and strive to rectify their mistakes.Muslims are encouraged to pray more throughout the holy month, especially at night, recite the Holy Quran, give to those in need and avoid any wrongdoing.(Footage by Firdaus Wajidi/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
