Liam Fox interview on Libya conflict; ENGLAND: London: Whitehall: INTLiam Fox MP (Defence Secretary) interview SOT- On overnight action / RAF launched attack on major bunker in Sirte, Gaddafi home town / essential we do not allow regime to regroup or counter-attack / we will destroy command and control assets / not taking sides, we are very clear our mission is to protect Libyan people / where remnants of regime continue to pose threat, we will degrade the military capability they have / they may attempt to re-group- It's not a manhunt for Gaddafi but essential we track elements of the regime that still pose a threat / we will destroy them under UN authority- On use of NATO intelligence in hunt for Gaddafi / no question of us seeking to track individuals / mission is the protection of the Libyan people / where remnants of regime continue to threaten them they are legitimate targets / they continue to threaten the population so are legitimate targets- On Gaddafi's propoganda offensive / I don't think there is a major impact / more than compensated by National Transitional Council moving into Tripoli / the more Libyans are able to see emergence of new authority, the more it will enhance their own standing / considerable assets unfrozen to begin reconstruction of country and bolster their authority- On whether the National Transitional Council can do the job - a lot of very encouraging signs / their approach, no retribution, acting within the law, wanting to reach out to former elements of the regime / international community should encourage that
