Agnes Bernauer - stock illustration
Agnes Bernauer (c. 1410 – 1435) was the lover, and perhaps the first wife of the Bavarian Duke Albrecht III (1401 – 1460). This connection was not befitting and Albrecht came into conflict with his father, Ernest. He was drowning Agnes Bernauer 1435 in the Danube. Her life and death has been processed in numerous literary works. Woodcut after a stone relief on the grave in St. Peter's Cemetery in Straubing from my archive, published in 1880.
