The Eads Bridge in St. Louis. Designed by James Buchanan Eads (American engineer, 1820 - 1887) and built between 1867 and 1874. At that time was this bridge the longest arch bridge in the world (6,442 feet or 1964 m). They is a combined road and railway bridge over the Mississippi River at St. Louis, connecting St. Louis and East St. Louis, Illinois. Wood engraviing, published in 1874.
