This is a 19th century engraving depicting a stage in the burial of General Ulysses S. Grant, as the train bearing his body passes through the U.S. military academy at West Point. Signed: A. R. Waud created a drawing from a sketch by Cadet C. T. Hamilton. The drawing was then engraved by WMO (name unknown). Ulysses S. Grant (1822-85) was a Union general in the American Civil War, and the 18th President of the United States from 1869 to 1877.
