Storming of the Malakov fort by the French on September 6, 1855 - stock illustration
Fortress or Fort Malakov is the Western European name for a group of temporary fortifications on the Malakhov-Kurgan hill, southeast of the Crimean city of Sevastopol. The fortifications consisted primarily of several large earthworks hastily erected during the Crimean War after the Allied troops had landed on the Crimean Peninsula. Illustration from 19th century.
