Hitorical view of the "Thick Oak", a wellknown oaktree in the Hasbruch, a 627 hectare oak and beech forest in the district of Oldenburg in Lower Saxony, Germany, in which there are some natural monuments. In the 19th century, the oak was the main attraction of the primeval forest and was visited by many visitors and groups of visitors.On July 8, 1923, there was a fire at the oak. Despite the prohibition signs, some people climbed the oak. A glowing cigarette fell into the hollow trunk. The remains of the oak can still be seen almost 100 years later.
