The diagram highlights the complex array of appendages attached to the head region, including a pair of long antennae terminating in powerful nipping claws and three pairs of smaller jointed walking limbs with pointed tips. Large, oval swimming-paddles are positioned at the sides, featuring spiny bases that also functioned as jaws for processing food.
