Parnelli Jones
PHOENIX, AZ - NOVEMBER 22, 1964: After winning the pole for the first USAC Indy Car race at Phoenix International Raceway, the Phoenix 100, driving a traditional upright car, Parnelli Jones came back with this Lotus/Ford rear engine machine and captured the pole position for the first Bobby Ball Memorial. Jones went on to a third-place finish in the Phoenix 100 and led 133 laps of the Bobby Ball Memorial before a broken fuel injector knocked him out of the race.
