Alan Knight Centre for Independent Journalism Lecturer on Harris St Broadway...he once was pickpocketed on a crowded st in the city....Alan Knight (above) earned the nickname “numb bum” a couple of years ago after his wallet, containing $150, was stolen from the back pocket of his jeans. He didn’t feel a thing.It was just another busy morning at ABC Radio, where he was producing a national current affairs show. In need of a caffeine fix, Mr. Knight ducked out to a coffee shop 200 metres up the road from the ABC’s offices in William Street, Darlinghurst, to get a cappuccino. January 29, 1992.
