INDIA-RELIGION-GANESH FESTIVAL-BEGGAR
An Indian woman begs for alms in a street of Bombay, 19 September 2004, during the "Ganesh Chaturthi" (Ganesh Festival). The ten day long Ganesh festival which started 18 September is a great opportunity for beggars to extract the odd donation as people in the festive mood tend to open their purse strings more readily. The highlight of the festival, which is particularly popular in the commercial capital, is the immersion of the clay Garnesh statues (idols) in the Indian ocean on the last day.
