April 24, 2009 -- Lauren Collins -- Being at risk of an anaphylactic reaction creates unique challenges for young people - transitioning from child to adult, more time spent on their own and in new situations, a propensity to take risks. Anaphylaxis Canada is reaching out to young people directly and engaging them in discussions about issues they are confronting in their own lives and how they can effectively manage anaphylaxis. The organization has also just launched a new website - www.whyriskit.ca - to serve that very purpose (public launch early May). Lauren Collins, Degrassi star, has been dealing with a severe peanut allergy since childhood. She's been talking to youth to raise awareness about allergies.
