The Amazing Acro-Cats
Arlington, MA - July 29: Samantha Martin, left, and Karma Hurworth lift up stools high in the air as Alley the cat jumps back and forth during a rehearsal of The Amazing Acro-Cats. Alley is the Guinness world record holder for the longest jump by a cat, logging in at 182.88 cm (6ft). Founded by Samantha Martin, The Amazing Acro-Cats is a traveling troupe of trained cats. Martin, who also runs Rock Cats Rescue in Georgia, uses clicker training to train her cats, a technique involving only positive reinforcement. Martin and her team of all-female assistants tour the U.S. in their bus, formerly owned by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Outfitted with a cat room in the back fondly referred to as kitty city, Martins bus travels the country with nearly 20 cats, two rats and one chicken.
