Portrait of Atti Hyvarinen
(Original Caption) Atti Hyvarinen, 23, of Finland, soars through the air in his first jump of two, February 5th, at Cortina, where he clinched the special ski jumping title before 35,000 spectators at the end of the Seventh Winter Olympics. Hyvarinen soared to a mighty 84 meters (275.6 feet) on his second jump to clinch the title. His first jump of 81 meters was only good for a fourth-place tie until he bettered it. A Finn was also second. Closing ceremonies of the Olympics were held February 5th.
