Bernie Willingale, the man who admits "commuters love to hate me" has to find another job after 21 years as State secretary of the Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen.Following his defeat yesterday in the election for secretary of his small but very powerful union, Mr. Willingale may soon be driving your train, rather than stopping it.Mr. Willingale attributes his "public image problem" to what he sees as a vicious media campaign during crippling strikes over manning levels on the XPT in 1983 and Hunter Valley trains in January last year.
