Gulf Oil Spill
EMPIRE, LA - MAY 2: Croatian oyster boat captain Ivan Bjelis opens fresh oysters caught on his brother's boat their marina May 2, 2010 near Empire, Louisiana. Bjelis first came to Louisiana in 1974 to work on Oyster boats, returning to his native country once a year to tend to his orchards near Debljovic, Croatia. He and his brother here have weathered hurricanes in the past, but fears abound about they're chances for survival against the impending oil spill damage of coastal waters and fisheries. Luckily, the oyster beds that they harvest from are in western waters that are still open for production, though most are unsure of the future direction of the spill.
