Louisiana Working To Stem West Nile Spread
SHREVEPORT, LA - AUGUST 8: Dan Saxon, mosquito and rodent control officer for Caddo Parish in northern Louisiana, looks over the numerous mosquito complaints he has received August 8, 2002 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Saxon has treated by spraying and fogging dozens of sites in the last few weeks. The parish has not had a human case of West Nile virus, but two chickens from a sentinel flock of birds maintained by the parish showed positive signs of the virus earlier this week. Louisiana has the largest outbreak of West Nile victims in the nation with the current number at 71, including five deaths. (Photo by Mario Villafuerte/Getty Images)
