Flavio Giulio Costanzo

Flavio Giulio Costanzo (August 7, 317 – November 3, 361), better known as Costanzo II, Roman emperor of the Constantinian dynasty. Appointed Caesar (Emperor subordinate to an Augustus) together with his brothers by his father, at the death of Constantine I in 337 he assumed power in the eastern part of the empire. Bas-relief decoration from the band depicting famous people of antiquity and mythological themes, inspired by the medals of the Roman era, carved on the base of the facade of the Basilica of the Certosa di Pavia, a typical example of Lombard Renaissance architecture.
