Body of Griselio Torresola in Morgue
(Original Caption) Griselio Torresola, the would-be assassin of President Truman, lies dead on a slab in a local police morgue, shot to death by White House Guards. His accomplice, Oscar Collazo, was seriously wounded. Collazo told police that he and Torresola had cooked up their plot two weeks ago when they decided that drastic action was necessary if Puerto Rico was to gain its independence. Both men were members of the Puerto Rican Nationalist party.
