Jewish Ukrainian microbiologist and biochemist Selman Waksman, French author, journalist and playwright Francois Mauriac, Swiss-American physicist Felix Bloch, American physicist Edward Mills Purcell, British biochemist Richard Laurence Millington Synge, British chemist Archer Martin, each Nobel Laureates holding their awards after the ceremony, at the Stockholms konserthus (Stockholm Concert Hall) in Stockholm, Sweden, 10th December 1952. Waksman received his award for medicine and physiology, Mauriac received his for literature, Bloch and Purcell shared the prize for physics, as did Synge and Martin for Chemistry, with all awards being presented by Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden.
