Marie Louise Archiduchesse d'Autriche Impératrice des Français', circa 1810, (1921). Portrait of Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma (1791-1847), 'Archduchess of Austria, Empress of the French', and second wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. She is holding a letter from Napoleon requesting her hand in marriage, and wears round her neck a portrait which accompanied the letter. Napoleon's first wife, Josephine, had not provided him with an heir, and he divorced her on 10 January 1810. He married Marie-Louise in March 1811. Engraving by Nicolas Colibert.
