Jefferson's Daughter
circa 1800: Martha Jefferson Randolph (1772-1836). Eldest daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson. Called 'Patsy' by her father, attended convent school with her sister Mary in Paris 1785-89, when her father was US minister to France. She married Thomas Mann Randolph, Jr in 1790, bore 11 children, served as First Lady at the President's House 1802-03 and 1805-06. With her family shared Jefferson's retirement at Monticello to 1826.
