Mother of 5 Kills Stingy Mate

Mrs. Martha Hochfeld under guard in Brooklyn police station after confessing that she murdered her husband as he lay sleeping. The 33-yera-old mother of five children, with a sixth on the way, telephoned Brooklyn police and calmly confessed that she had bashed in her husband's head with a wooden end table as he lay sleeping. The husband died an hour later in Kings County Hospital without regaining consciousness. "I intended to kill him," she told the cops who went to her home at 839 Midwood St., in the East Flatbush section. "I had to kill him. It was him or me." George Hochfeld, 39, a prosperous junk dealer, known to neighbors as a violent man who beat his wife often and fought with her constantly over money matters.
