Peyton Randolph
circa 1760: Peyton Randolph (c. 1721-1775). American statesman. Virginia born, educated at College of William and Mary, studied law in London, entered the bar 1743. Returned to VA, appointed attorney general of VA 1744. Represented Williamsburg in VA House of Burgesses from 1748. Chaired committee to draft protest against the Stamp Act 1764, Speaker of VA House 1766, chaired First & Second Continental Congresses 1774-July 1775.
