Pupils in the Year 1 class at Millfields Community School listen enthusiastically to a clown during a special assembly held on 'Red Nose Day' (where they were encouraged to wear red items of clothing). The school is a large inner-city primary school with 604 children on its roll. Situated in Hackney, it is a happy and high achieving school where children from many racial and cultural backgrounds are well integrated. It has been hailed as 'a national leader' for raising educational standards, successful inclusion of children with special needs into mainstream schooling, and the diversity of its pupils who in total speak over 40 languages.
