circa 1884: Samuel Shaw (1754-1794). Continental soldier and diplomat. In the American Revolution served as an artillery officer in all major battles of the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania Campaigns 1775-1777, aide to General Henry Knox 1782-83.
