William Chambers
circa 1760: Scottish architect Sir William Chambers (1726 - 1796), who studied his craft in Italy and France and practised in England. He is famous for designing Somerset House (1776) and the pagoda at Kew Gardens (1763) and he also published a book entitled 'Treatise of Civil Architecture' (1759).
