Adam Smith

circa 1770: Scottish economist and philosopher Adam Smith (1723-1790). Professor of moral philosophy at the University of Glasgow from 1752, he published 'Theory of Moral Sentiments' 1759, and 'An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations,' published in 1776.
