Monitoring activities and assistance in Niscemi
NISCEMI, ITALY - FEBRUARY 04: USAR Team observe a map on the landslide in Niscemi, Italy on February 04, 2026. According to Sebastiano Musumeci, Italian Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, the landslide area in Niscemi is 4 KM wide and the red zone was extended. USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) team of Fire Fighters, INGV (Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, National Institute of Geophysic and Vulcanology) and OGS (Osservatorio Geofisico Sperimentale, National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics) technicians arrived in the city for monitoring activities. Both emergency staff and local people are provided with food and assitance at the Sport Palace, where also volunteers of the Niscemi Football Club provide food and assistance.
