Marquette & Joliet Historical Marker

This historical marker was erected in commemoration of the French explorers Father Jacques Marquette and Louis Joliet in the Wyalusing State Park, Wyalusing, Wisconsin, 1923. The two men are credited with being the first white people to journey down the Wisconsin River to its confluence with the Mississippi River--a point they reached on June 17, 1673. The marker was erected by the Knights of Columbus on the 250th anniversary of the event. These photographs were most likely taken at the dedication.
