US-GREEN FAMILY-POLYGAMY TRIAL-HOME
This undated prosecution evidence photo released by Juab County 15 May, 2001, shows the homestead of Utah polygamist Tom Green in Trout Creek, Utah, 125 miles (201kms) southwest of Salt Lake City. The photo was presented to the jury by the prosecution 15 May as evidence. Green is on trial for polygamy and criminal nonsupport and also faces a charge of child rape stemming from his relationship with one of his wives when she was 13. The practice of having many wives was abandoned by mainstream Mormons a century ago as a condition of Utah statehood. The modern Church of Latter Day Saints condemns polygamy, but an estimated 30,000 fundamentalists still practice it in Utah, though most are not as open as Green.
