GABRIELLE TAYLOR--Three year old Gabrielle Taylor is seen playing in her home outside of Toronto. It has been three years since Gabrielle was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis and necrotizing enterocolitis, two forms of flesh eating disease. The rare bacerial infection destroyed 90 per cent of the skin on Gabrielle's scalp and 40 per cent of her bowel. The first eight months of her life were spent in the NICU with multiple intestinal surgeries and skin grafts on her scalp. Gabrielle is now thankfully at home, making visits to SickKids to adjust the tissue expanders in her head that are stretching her skin so it can be replaced over the existing scar tissue at the back of Gabrielle's skull.
