CALABOZO, VENEZUELA: Un ejemplar de tortuga Arrau (Podocnemis expansa) es liberada en las riveras del rio Mocapra, en Calabozo, 80 km al sur de Caracas, el 18 de junio de 2005. Un total de 5000 tortuguillas en peligro de extincion fueron liberadas tras ser criadas en cautiverio para disminuir su depredacion selectiva; en los 14 anos este programa de conservacion ha criado y liberado al medio natural a 18.549 tortugas Arrau en varios estados venezolanos.
