Valkyries, Odin, Valhalla, Brynhild, According to Norse mythology, the Valkyries were the daughters or attendants of Odin, the chief god (also called Wotan). The Norse believed the Valkyries came to battlefield, chose those who would die, and carried them back to Valhalla. Their leader was Brynhild (also spelled Brunhild, Brunhilde, Brynhildr).
