A vigil for Semaj Crosby, 17-month-old, outside her home in the 300 block of Louis Road in Joliet, Illinois on April 28, 2017. Crosby was reported missing on April 25, but was later found under a couch in her home on April 27. Her death is being ruled as a homicide by asphyxia. No one has been charged in her death. These are the images of Chicago's murders -- tragedies playing out in the third largest American city in numbers unmatched by any other major US metropolis.
