It is found in forests, scrub, and cultivated areas across tropical southern Asia, from the Himalayas, India, and Bangladesh to Indonesia. This insectivorous bird often fans its tail as it moves through the undergrowth. The White-throated Fantail uses the same song year after year, with progressively small changes, resulting in a very different song after 4-5 years.
