Carcharodontosaurus chasing after an Ouranosaurus in the wetlands of North Africa. This is a depiction of North Africa from about 97 million years ago. An area the size of the Sahara was a vast wetland and river system. One of the top land predators was Carcharodontosaurus with an estimated length of 40-44 feet and weight 7-8 tons and knife blade like teeth. One of its likely prey was the Iguanodont Ouranosaurus. Fairly large at 23-27 feet long and 4-5 tons in weight, but small enough that it could be taken down fairly easily by a large Carcharodontosaurus.
