CILIATED EPITHELIUM lining the TRACHEA, PSEUDOSTRATIFIED CILIATED COLUMNAR EPITHELIUM with GOBLET CELLS, 350X. All of the cells rest on the basement membrane, and cell nuclei are located at different levels (looks stratified but is not, hence the prefix pseudo). Goblet cells (white) secrete mucus and the cilia and mucus move debris out of the respiratory tract (mucociliary escalator). Supporting connective tissue is below the epithelium. H & E stain.
