Luteinised ovarian stromal cells, light micrograph - stock photo
Light micrograph of luteinised ovarian cells. The cells present in the ovarian stroma (connective tissue) may undergo luteinisation in response to hormone stimulation. The luteinised cells, such as those seen in the right half of this image, have rounded nuclei (blue round dots) and acquire larger amounts of cytoplasm making them larger and more eosinophilic (pinker). The adjacent non-luteinised ovarian stromal cells, seen at the left half of this image, are smaller and have spindled nuclei (dark slightly elongated blue dots). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 400x when printed at 10cm
