Lymph node subcapsular sinus, light micrograph - stock photo
Light micrograph of a lymph node subcapsular sinus. Lymph nodes are composed of lymphoid cells or lymphocytes (dark blue dots at bottom third of image) and are surrounded by a capsule (horizontal pink line towards top of image). Beneath the capsule is a subcapsular sinus (pale blue-pink horizontal band) which is a space through which lymph fluid drains. The supcapsular sinus here is seen filled with many histiocytic cells (pale blue) and a few lymphocytes (dark blue dots). At the very top of the image are fat cells (white circular structures) which lie directly outside the lymph node. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10cm
