A red morph Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) perches at the entrance of a weathered nesting cavity originally excavated by a Red-cockaded Woodpecker (Leuconotopicus borealis) in a mature longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) in Croatan National Forest, North Carolina.
