Suweg (from Javanese) is a member of the Amorphophallus clan and is still a close relative of the giant corpse flower (A. titanum) and iles-iles (A. muelleri). Suweg is often mixed with iles-iles because both produce edible stem tubers and there are similarities in leaf morphology in the vegetative phase. Another name is porang, although this name is also used for iles-iles. Names in other languages: elephant foot yam [4] [5] or stink lily (English), TV (Tonga), jimmikand, suran, chenna, ol (Bengal), and oluo (Odia).Suweg is a plant native to Southeast Asia and grows in the forests of the Malesia, Philippines and tropical India (southern part).
