Members of a cooperative collect the fruit from the Bailique archipelago region, in the state of Amapá. Equipped with a head and a machete, they climb the palm trees with a piece of cloth wrapped around their feet called 'peconha". The harvesting of the fruit in the region is carried out in a sustainable way by the cooperative members. The fruit pulp is widely consumed in the Brazilian Amazon and sold to the rest of the country and the world (image 2)
