Afsluitdijk Bridge: Symbol of the Netherlands' fight against sea-level rise

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - APRIL 26: Afsluitdijk Bridge, one of the most impressive projects, in the Netherlands is a symbol of the country's fight against sea-level rise."Melting of glaciers and sea level rise - which again reached record levels in 2022 - will continue to up to thousands of years," the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said on April 21.The country tries to adapt to the changes by investing in water engineering constructions and reinforcing the Afsluitdijk Bridge.The Afsluitdijk is more than just protection against flood but it is also a motorway used by thousands of people every day. The 32-kilometre-long Afsluitdijk, built between 1927 and 1933, is highly significant when it comes to water management.The Netherlands which literally means "lower country" faces more risks than any other country in the region.
