Inspirational 13 year old Alyssia Crook Talks About Her Leg Amputation
CU-Alyssia Crook "If I wanna do sports, If I wanna run and all that stuff I will cut my leg and do it. No reason, just cut my leg and keep going and keep going forward." says the inspirational thirteen year old about her decision to get one of her legs amputated. Alyssia has a rare and painful condition called multiple pterygium syndrome (mps). After dozens of procedures and surgeries she was given the option to undergo a lifetime of increasingly painful surgeries or lose her leg. At only thirteen years old Alyssia chose to have her leg amputated. Just days before her surgery Alyssia played in her very last basketball tournament at school and the very next day after surgery was playing in again in the hospital gym in her wheelchair.
