Berlinale Film Festival: Sean Penn attends press conference for his Ukraine documentary ‘Superpower’

BERLIN, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 18: American actor and director Sean Penn along with some members of the film crew attended a press conference for Penn's Ukraine documentary “Superpower” during the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival 'Berlinale' in Berlin, Germany on Saturday (Feb. 18). The movie was originally conceived as a profile of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but it turned into a portrait of events in the war-torn country due to the Russian invasion. Penn and his co-director Aaron Kaufman were filming in Kyiv when Russia-Ukraine war started in February last year. Penn conducted his first of several interviews with Zelenskyy for the film. The Berlinale, Europe’s first major film festival of this year kicked off on Thursday (Feb. 16) with a comedy “She came to me” starring Anne Hathaway, Marisa Tomei and Peter Dinklage. The 73rd annual festival spotlights Russian-Ukraine war’s first anniversary as well as anti-regime protests in Iran with new feature films and documentaries.
