Photographer Captures Hundreds of Giant Spider Crabs on the March

An Australian underwater photographer witnessed hundreds of giant spider crabs on the march in Port Phillip Bay, Victoria, on February 5, she said. Jules Casey estimated she saw somewhere between 500 and 1,000 of the crabs. "Eventually they will gather in their thousands to prepare for their annual mass moulting," she said. She said the crabs were fast-moving. "These crabs didn't remain in the area for long. We returned to the area 20 minutes later and not a single crab could be found."
